In the south of Paris, near the 14th district, Malakoff is pulling out all the stops to completely transform one of its flagship neighborhoods, the Barbusse district. Undergoing renovations and big changes, Barbusse is about to unveil new buildings, a bunch of renovated housing, new traffic plans… and a Poets’ City transformed into a little Japanese Haiku.

A Neighborhood in Full Transformation

In the heart of Malakoff, the Barbusse district is getting a beautiful makeover with the "100% Barbusse" project. 80 million euros have been invested to reinvent the urban space of the neighborhood and bring back some spark to local life, explains Actu Paris. Imagine greener boulevards, lively squares, and…

acute;gétalisées, welcoming sidewalks, and bike paths that joyfully wind their way. The highlight of the project? The future Léo-Figuères square, planned to be pedestrian-friendly and lively by 2027: an ideal spot to stroll, breathe, and socialize. With new housing, rethought traffic, and nature reclaiming its space, Barbusse promises to blend modernity with a delightful quality of life.

64 new homes for the Cité des Poètes

Another plan at the heart of "100% Barbusse," the Cité des Poètes is a small neighborhood set to evolve with the construction of new homes. A new chapter is being written with Haïku, future apartments designed by REI Habitat, creators of a sustainable and low-carbon city. After leaving a mark with the Olympic Village in Saint-Ouen, they are now taking on this little corner of Malakoff with a project that resonates with well-being and sustainability. On the agenda: 4,800 m2 and 64 wooden homes (ranging from T2 to T5) each with its own slice of fresh air – terrace, balcony, or garden. A little architectural poetry with Japanese vibes, reminiscent of the very name of the project, Haïku, which refers to a very brief poem in Japan. Delivery is expected in March 2026… if all goes well!Everything is going well. The City of Poets will then welcome a new residence, where ecology and aesthetics come together in harmony.
