On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, around 9 PM, a storm of remarkable intensity hit the capital. Lightning, torrential rain, gusts of wind… In just a few minutes, the sunny Parisian and Île-de-France landscape transformed, soaking anyone who was outdoors to the bone, and temperatures that had risen to 35°C quickly plummeted. This phenomenon was widespread across the country: in total, 44 departments were placed on orange alert.
Numerous damages and two victims to mourn
On the side of Parisian transport, the situation was quite complicated. Many roads were flooded, as well as several metro stations, particularly at the Franklin D. Roosevelt stop.
evelt, Victor Hugo, and Porte de Versailles. Traffic was also heavily disrupted on RER lines B and D. In addition to the rain, gusts of wind reaching 112 km/h were observed near the Eiffel Tower. They reached 87 km/h at the Paris-Montsouris station.

According to the Paris Fire Brigade speaking to AFP, around forty interventions were needed to clear the streets of fallen trees and branches. Thankfully, there are no reported casualties in Île-de-France, but in Mayenne, a 59-year-old man tragically lost his life after hitting a fallen tree on the road, and near Montauban, a 12-year-old girl also lost her life due to a falling tree. More than 110,000 homes are currently without electricity.
