Living in the city has its perks, like being close to all the shops and restaurants, plus easy access to cultural life. But there’s always one thing we really crave: greenery. Even though green spaces are popping up more and more in the capital, our eyes light up whenever we hear that a new one is going to be added to the list. Where is it? Over in La Défense. And let’s just say that things are definitely going to be done right!

A new 5-hectare park
Spanning an area of 5 hectares and stretching 600 meters long, this new urban park is set to transform the esplanade of La Défense. The aim of such a project? To make Paris La Défense the world's first post-carbon business district. The mastermind behind this initiative is none other than landscape architect Michel Desvigne, with plans to see it come to life by 2028.
A green space to combat climate change
What will it look like? A friendly green space, accessible to everyone, that will respond.just as much for the expectations of walkers, as for families or those eager to do some sports. You’ll find a play area and sports facilities, along with different spacious spots set up for a simple break or a picnic.
The environment is at the heart of the project. With the creation of cooling areas and the restoration of natural soils, the Park will shine as a true actor against global warming. As the green lung of western Paris, it will allow 314 trees to be planted and six new ponds to be created. This will also be a way to diversify the local fauna and flora.
