Well, let’s not kid ourselves : from one year to the next, there aren’t any huge changes in the name department. Every January, the list of the most popular names in the capital is released, and it seems that Parisians aren’t necessarily going for originality — in a way, that might not be such a bad thing for the child.
A few names, however, are making their debut in the much-anticipated rankings. Heads up to new parents : we hope you’ve picked out a cute little nickname for your little one because if they’re named Alma or Gabriel, they might just have two or three classmates with the same name throughout their school years!

Alma still in the winning trio
When it comes to girls' names, the big winner is Alma, who has dethroned Louise, now in second place. Olivia climbs the ranks to take third place, followed by Sofia and Iris, who makes a grand return after disappearing from the top 10 in 2024. Let’s keep going with Adèle, Gabrielle, Emma — who has dropped to eighth place after being third last year — Alice, and finally Rose. The names Anna and Jeanne have been knocked out of the top 10 in 2025.
A multitude of Gabriel, Raphaël, and Adam
For boys, although the order changes, the top three remains loyal ! In 2025,
Gabriel remains the most popular boy's name in Paris and has not been dethroned! Raphaël comes in second place, followed by Adam — in 2024, their spots were switched! Louis, Noah, and Léon still hold their spot in the top 10, along with Arthur — who moved from fourth to seventh place — Isaac, Léo, and the new kid on the block: Oscar. Gaspard and Joseph, who had already dropped off the 2024 rankings, seem to be sadly abandoned by Parisians for good.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
