The repeated red lights, road users who think they have priority everywhere, the countless vehicles all stuck on the same road at the same time… It’s no secret, traffic in the capital is quite the challenge. And sadly, being stuck in traffic jams is becoming almost the norm. The problem is, all around the world, the situation is just as bad, if not worse. In fact, the transportation analysis company Inrix has conducted a study to determine which cities are the worst when it comes to traffic congestion. While Paris is definitely on the list, it’s not in the top position!

The British capital tops the list of the most congested cities in Europe
Which European city keeps drivers stuck in traffic the longest? It's London, by a long shot! According to data collected by Inrix, British road users spend an average of 101 hours stuck in traffic jams. Hot on its heels is Paris, where the time spent in traffic is estimated at 97 hours. In third place, we have Dublin, where users spend around 81 hours in jams. The rest of the rankings include Brussels with 74 hours, Rome with 71 hours, Warsaw with 70 hours, Bath with 68 hours, Ljubljana with 67 hours, Galway with 67 hours, and Bristol with 65 hours.

In total, over 900 cities from 37 different countries have been analyzed. While Paris ranks second in the European top 10, on the international stage, the French capital comes in at sixth place, tied with Mexico City. These two cities are preceded by Istanbul with 105 hours spent in traffic, New York with 102 hours, Chicago also with 102 hours, and London. In seventh place, we find Cape Town in South Africa with 94 hours, Jakarta with 89 hours, Los Angeles with 88 hours, and Brisbane with 84 hours. In short, if you want to save time, public transport or cycling are your best friends... just saying, not judging!
