The decision hung above our heads. It just dropped from the mouth of the Prefect of Paris, Patrice Faure, the two biggest events of the weekend are officially banned. On top of that, starting at 12 PM, alcohol consumption will be prohibited in public places, and it will be impossible to sell alcoholic beverages all evening long.

An evening marked by sobriety

Yesterday, Thursday, June 25, the Paris Prefecture issued a first decree concerning the consumption of alcohol in public spaces. Specifically, drinking in public places is therefore prohibited from 12 PM until 7 AM on Saturday, and the sale of drinks will also be completely illegal during that time.

It starts at 6 PM and goes until Saturday morning as well. All these restrictions will indeed be carried over tomorrow under the same conditions. Behind this decision lies a simple observation: “ The interventions by the Paris firefighters have doubled, rising from 1,250 interventions to over 2,500 .” The goal is crystal clear; everything must be done to avoid additional interventions from healthcare professionals. In light of this initial measure, many sensed the worst, namely the cancellation of all weekend events. And that didn’t miss the mark.

A Not-So-Festive Weekend

Indeed, the axe has fallen this Friday, June 26 morning, just as everyone was gearing up for a weekend of fun between Solidays and the Pride March. Patrice Faure has requested the cancellation of these two events. He further specified that if the organizers do not make an official decision, they will simply be banned. Basically, the situation is the same: no concerts, no pride. For now, neither event has commented on the decision, but we already recommend you start looking for viewing options for the match; it’s probably your best bet for a fun evening… sober!
