Many months of work to achieve such a remarkable creation
This is a monumental project that Tarik Tolunay embarked on in the spring of 2025. With 12 to 16 hours of work per day, the artist managed to represent the entire capital on a canvas of 150 x 250 centimeters, after 11 months. On his Instagram account, he didn't hesitate to document the progress of his work over the weeks, drawing parallels between the completed parts and those still in progress.
And the artist, originally from Turkey, was able to show incredible ingenuity : by zooming in on each neighborhood of the city, he...possible to spot every little alley, the most iconic buildings, and frozen scenes of life. “The screen isn’t enough. This work needs to be hung on the wall,” he writes next to a photo of himself posing with his printed map on paper.
