The Editor

This year, the agricultural fair seems a bit more tricky to handle than usual. The furious farmers have already scheduled a bunch of protests, beginning on Friday. And then there's the throngs of young folks who have come as tourists, keen on savoring life's delights. They might be in for a bit of a letdown.

An anti-drinking code of conduct

Every year, we all know that the agricultural fair brings with it some excesses, most of which are alcohol-related. It's no secret that for many, the fair opening at 9am means the first bottle is empty by 9:30. This situation really upset the vendors last year.

So, to make a change, this year will be different with the "thirst quenchers". You might be wondering, what are they? Think of them like the dementors (evil spirits in Harry Potter), but instead of sucking your soul, they are here to take away your enjoyment of life (which can be heightened by excessive drinking). These flying squads will go around the stands distributing water, providing prevention tips, and assisting those who are (really) too intoxicated.

A shower of penalties

Education and prevention are great in theory, but as you can imagine, they may not always be enough. To be prepared, the fair organizers have decided to implement stricter measures.

Be kind and joyful, and keep it easy to understand:

If you serve alcohol, make sure you don't give it to people who are already very drunk. And if those drunk people start causing trouble, you might have to ask them to leave. This is to keep everyone safe and make sure everyone has a good time. Thanks for understanding!

The organizers hope to implement a true code of conduct in the aisles of the expo, with audio messages broadcasted, charters distributed, and security agents on the lookout. And to truly mark this 60th edition as a turning point in the expo's history, they will be introducing a non-alcoholic beer competition for the first time! Well, let's meet on March 3rd to assess the effectiveness of these measures.
