Isn't it amazing to think that no one had thought of this before? Parisian bakeries throw away so much bread and pastries every day in the name of freshness. A whopping 150,000 tons of bread are wasted each year in France! But when you realize that yesterday's pastries can easily be revived with a little heat from the oven, and some loaves can last for days untouched, it becomes clear that joining the anti-waste movement is really worthwhile, especially in times of rising prices.

Bread with an extra day

Here, you can shop for gourmet goods made from unsold items from the previous day at one of the dozen bakeries in Paris. Depending on the day, you might find rye bread, country bread, sourdough bread, bread with seeds, hazelnuts, or figs... But the real star is the spelt bread, which stays fresh and moist for days. In essence, it's all the bread you'd expect to find in a traditional bakery, with some innovative pastries too. We absolutely adored the croissants and pain au chocolat drizzled with honey — we'd seen them all over social media but never had a chance to taste them before.

Delicious sandwiches at affordable prices

Recently, Martin and his team have been using burger buns and pastries to create incredibly tasty (some might say sinful) sandwiches at very reasonable prices. A standout is the Toastie with pastrami, cheddar, onion confit, and spinach sprouts, all for under 6€. Don't forget to pair it with a matcha latte or upgraded coffee. Their latest venture involves pastries for the following day - a daring move to bring sweet delights that are not easy to transport. We can't wait to try it!

A piece of advice: arrive early, stock shortages have become frequent. Enjoy your meal!
