Even though the mayor of Paris has officially postponed her swim in the Seine, it seems that Anne Hidalgo is not afraid to get wet after all. She has just opened the first urban forest in the heart of the 14th district, covering over 4000 m². This ambitious project was part of her promises during the climate plan campaign, and we think it's fantastic news! This is a great first step towards a greener Paris. The Place de Catalogne has been transformed into a green oasis, with one side for pedestrians and the other side hosting the new urban forest. This vegetal paradise spans 4000 m² and includes 470 trees, as well as lawns and benches for picnics with the upcoming nice weather. It's a space that will surely be enjoyed by the many workers in the area.Welcome pedestrians, of course, but also bikes.

Exciting news coming out of Paris! The city is embracing a major innovation that is proving to be a huge success. Approximately 300 new green spaces are set to pop up all around the City of Light, including iconic locations like Colonel Fabien square and the esplanade of Hôtel de Ville. Not only is this wonderful news from an aesthetic standpoint, but it also benefits the planet. These projects are expected to reduce pollution levels by an average of 4% in affected areas, which is definitely a reason to celebrate in the face of climate change.

Of course, as true Parisians, some locals have mixed feelings about this transformation. Some raise valid concerns, such as the potential for these open spaces to become dumping grounds due to lack of barriers. Others worry about the absence of benches, which could cause damage to the lawns. And then there are those who provide a good chuckle, like the resident who complained that the new trees were obstructing their view of the Eiffel Tower. Well, in the grand scheme of things, there are certainly worse problems to have, aren't there?
