Villejuif-Gustave Roussy station on line 14 had already broken all records by descending to a depth of 36 meters, while the overall structure of the station goes down to 50 meters. But now a new station is about to challenge it. Located on the future line 15 South, the Saint-Maur - Créteil station is taking a journey to the center of the Earth that's even more distant, as Le Parisien points out.

Subway platforms... 52 meters underground
Who said you can't talk about sea level in Paris? Well, Saint-Maur - Créteil, the future station on the Line 15 South of the Greater Paris Express, plunges down to 52 meters deep, with foundations reaching 70 meters. A true feat of engineering! To reach the platforms, a staircase of 291 steps was installed — not without some challenges — in the center of the station. Don't worry though, eleven elevators will also be available.

A line coming next year
Right now, this Line 15 South is still under construction and won't be accessible until 2027 — although originally it was supposed to open in 2025. It will notably connect Pont-de-Sèvres to Noisy-Champs, via 16 stations. The entire Line 15 will serve 36 stations and 45 municipalities, across 75 kilometers of track.
To this line will be added lines 16 (Saint-Denis Pleyel - Noisy-Champs), 17 (Saint-Denis Pleyel - Charles-de-Gaulle Airport / Mesnil-Amelot) and 18 (Versailles - Orly Airport), all automated. 68 new stations will be created for a total of 200 kilometers of lines. The goal of the Greater
