Exciting news for all Shrek fans: DreamWorks is bringing back everyone's favorite ogre for a fifth installment, set to hit theaters in 2026! And as if that wasn't enough, they've also announced a spin-off featuring the lovable donkey character. Get ready for more joy and happiness on the big screen!

As the donkey is getting ready to have his own dedicated film, you haven't finished following his adventures alongside his best friend Shrek and Shrek's companion, Fiona. On Tuesday, July 9, DreamWorks confirmed that a fifth installment of the Shrek saga is currently in the works and should be released very soon.


Original Voices Returning

At the moment, no storyline has been revealed. The production company has simply specified that Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz will once again be the original voices of Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. So we can assume that Alain Chabat and Barbara Tissier will return to provide the French voices for our favorite ogre couple. However, Med Hondo, who voiced Donkey, passed away in 2019. Who will be the actor to take over? The mystery remains, for now.
