Less than a month before the kickoff of the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, and details about this beloved event for movie lovers are starting to emerge. This includes the opening ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. We already know that the first film by French director Amélie Bonnin, Partir un jour, will open the competition, that Laurent Lafitte will host the evening, and that the iconic Mylène Farmer will make an appearance for a special show.

The most discreet of French artists, whose public appearances are still quite rare, is gearing up to make a splash at the Cannes Film Festival, according to exclusive information from Brut. The French singer has confirmed she will be taking the stage at the Palais des Festivals during the c&.

opening ceremony on May 13th. Their last performances on stage were during the French stadium tour Nevermore in 2023 and 2024.

Her performance will be complemented by the screening of the latest film by Yann Gozlan, Dalloway – presented on May 15 during the Midnight Screening – for which the singer of “Libertine” and “Sans Contrefaçon” lent her voice. The director of Boîte noire and Un homme idéal is focusing on this.This time, it's all about the highly sought-after topic of artificial intelligence in a thriller way, with one of the main characters being none other than aAI voiced by Mylène Farmer.


Stars Galore for this 78th Edition

This isn't Mylène Farmer's first appearance on the Croisette. In fact, the French music icon made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival during the 74th edition in 2021 as a member of the official jury. As for the jury for this new 2025 edition, it hasn't been revealed yet, but we already know that it will bepresided over by the French actress Juliette Binoche (The Lovers on the Bridge, Three Colors, The English Patient), who takes over from the American and director of Barbie, Greta Gerwig. 

Other stars will definitely be eagerly anticipated throughout the festival – which will take place from May 13 to May 24 – such as American actress and star Scarlett Johansson, returning to Cannes to present her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great. We're also looking forward to Denzel Washington's appearance for Highest 2 Lowest, a new work by Spike Lee; Tom Cruise will be there for the final Mission Impossible (presented out of competition); and finally, Robert De Niro, who will be honored by the 78th edition with the Honorary Palme d'Or.
