If we were to talk about the must-see markers of the capital, we would definitely mention metro entrances, Morris columns, street plaques, but also the Wallace fountains that, since the 1870s, have allowed all Parisians to have free and round-the-clock access to drinking water. With a total of 112, they have since been joined by hundreds of other more modern distribution points, making life easier for both residents and tourists, especially during the summer.

Water at your bottle's reach across the capital

Over the past few months, several self-service fountains in the capital had turned off their taps for the winter break to prevent freezing, but 70% of them reopened in early March, including a brand new one located in the 13th district, on Fernand-Braudel Street. A new point of distribution is...

symbolic distribution, because not only is it located on the façade of the brand new headquarters of the Eau de Paris, the public company in charge of drinking water, but it also represents the 17th to offer both flat and sparkling water! A wonderful advancement since the installation of the very first one in the Jardin de Reuilly, in the 12th, in 2010.

Significant Savings!

Thanks to this initiative, the capital now boasts no fewer than 1311 drinking fountains, still or sparkling, accessible to everyone. However, many Parisians seem to not pay attention to these sources, especially the savings they represent. In fact, while we strive to reduce our plastic consumption, these fountains allow everyone to easily fill up their water bottle daily, even to take home later, even if they only swear by the bubbles. Especially since, in addition to the public fountains, the city has no fewer than 1500 businesses carrying the label « Here I choose Paris water », welcoming anyone who wishes to join in.nt to fill their containers. In total, these various points (all listed on this map) represent several tens of millions of liters of water each year, resulting in absolutely phenomenal plastic savings !
