This fall — that's in 3 days, much to the dismay of optimists —, a first section of line 18 will open its doors between Massy–Palaiseau station and Christ de Saclay station. And it's precisely to celebrate the end of construction of the former that the Society of Major Projects has decided to organize a festive and inclusive event by opening its doors for the first time to the general public.
An afternoon of celebration
This Saturday, September 12, from 2pm to 8pm with free entry, the Grand Paris Express invites you to the brand-new Massy–Palaiseau station. On the program, artistic performances and musical entertainment, but also
also exclusive visits to the station before its official opening in a few months. This day will also be an opportunity to discover more about the overall metro extension project, thanks to a dedicated exhibition. For food lovers, no worries—various food stalls will be available on site to treat yourselves throughout the day with quality local products.Ca roule sur la ligne 18 ! A Highly Anticipated Opening
As a reminder, this first section of Line 18 should open this October. This brand-new Massy station will make it possible to connect the metro to RER lines B and C, tram T12, Transilien V, and the TGV station already present on site. A second section between Massy–Palaiseau and Orly airport will open in 2027, and finally the last stretch connecting Christ de Saclay to Versailles should be ready by 2030. Measuring 35.2 km (14 of which elevated), crossing 13 municipalities and featuring 10 stations, the future new line should make life easier for no fewer than 110,000 Île-de-France residents.
