At the end of May, the Mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, made a very special announcement. Once in a while, in 2026, the traditional fireworks on July 14 won't be set off on July 14, but on the 13th. This surprising decision can be explained quite simply and hides a strong and symbolic decision from the city's leader. But don't worry, even though it's happening a little early, it will be just as entertaining and should leave you with stars in your eyes.

A new symbolic date

July 14, 2026, will mark the 236th celebration of the Bastille Day. Unfortunately, it will also mark a much darker date: ...10 years since the attacks in Nice. To remind you, in 2016, a truck drove into the crowd on the Promenade des Anglais, resulting in 86 deaths (including 15 minors) and 458 injuries. It was a traumatic event for thousands of people, and the mayor of Paris wants to give it the attention it deserves. For this reason, the traditional fireworks display at the Eiffel Tower will be set off the day before, in order to honor the commemorations planned for this occasion.

A Fabulous Evening

So, it’s on July 13th that Emmanuel Grégoire invites you to come and enjoy this exceptional show. For this occasion, there will be no less than 1,600 drones lighting up the Paris sky — that’s 600 more than last year — with 12 breathtaking displays to bring magical images to life. Accompanied by colorful rockets, they will explore various themes, including the 70th anniversary of the twinning between Paris and Rome and the 400th anniversary of the Navy (which is the theme of a wonderful exhibition at the National Navy Museum, by the way). The show will also shine a spotlight on

Seine, the quintessential Parisian emblem, takes center stage. In short, a night that promises to be full of excitement!
