Since 2018, the Cité fertile has established itself as a true laboratory for the city of tomorrow. Ecology, solidarity, living together: this third place welcomes everyone as if they were at home. People visit for its restaurant, events, the joy of gardening together, and quality evenings that last deep into the night. So why is it closing its doors?

One of the largest eco-districts in the region will take over
In December 2027, we'll have to say goodbye to the Cité Fertile. In reality, this ending was written from the very beginning: the place was designed as a transitional urban project and even enjoyed a year and a half of extra time. What's next? One of the largest eco-districts in Île-de-France will be built on this site: spacious green areas, numerous housing units (with a third in social housing), eco-friendly initiatives, and even a kindergarten. With such an ambitious project, it's hard to cry injustice.

Over 10 years of a real-life laboratory!
The Cité Fertile was not in vain. In nearly ten years, it has proven that another urban model is possible: short supply chains, demanding yet accessible cultural programming, workshops that have trained thousands of Parisians in composting, permaculture, and repair. This real-life laboratory has inspired other projects throughout the region and will leave a lasting mark on the way we think about transition spaces. The eco-district that follows is the logical continuation of it, after all!

Enjoy it while you still can!
Unless you've been living abroad or in a cave these past few years, you must know about the Cité Fertile: one hectare in the heart of Pantin, set up in an old SNCF freight station, completely dedicated to ecological, cultural, and community issues. Since day one, this place has been revitalized and operates sustainably. With its (many) parties and commitments, this spot absolutely deserves to stick around a little longer. Until then, we plan to spend all our free time there until December 2027!
Address: 14 Av. Edouard Vaillant, 93500 Pantin, France
