Here we go! The quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup are happening tomorrow, Thursday, July 9, 2026. It's the final stretch for the teams still in the game, including the French team, which we hope will make it to the semifinals and, of course, the finals. To celebrate, the Mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, has decided to turn the capital into a giant fan zone, “The Fan Zone, that's Paris.” With special terrace hours and the pedestrianization of certain areas… Paris is transforming and adapting to the competition that brings joy to fans all over the world.

The Marais and La Roquette to be pedestrianized
First up, and it’s a big one: two neighborhoods will be pedestrianized starting July 9, from 8 PM to 2 AM the next morning. This will be happening in the Marais and the La Roquette area. This initiative is set up to manage the festivities and gatherings planned in these areas. So, mark your calendars for July 9 for the quarter-final match between France and Morocco, July 14 if France qualifies, July 18 for the third place game, and of course, July 19 if France makes it to the finals!

Terraces Open Until the Early Morning
Even better, summer terrace hours will be extended until 2 AM starting from the quarter-finals! This will be in effect for every match night leading up to the final on July 19. An agreement has been made between the City of Paris and the hospitality professionals to ensure that the hours are respected, along with a ban on selling takeout alcohol and providing free water.
