Hey there! So, you know how usually you have to be in the right place at the right time to catch a glimpse of the northern lights? Well, this time it's a bit different! A super rare solar storm decided to pay us a visit this weekend, giving France and many other countries an incredible light show straight out of a fairy tale.
Get Ready for a Sky Surprise
This kind of event hasn't happened since way back in 2003, according to the experts. Normally, people would travel all the way to places like Lapland or Northern Norway to witness the northern lights, but this time the magic came to us. The solar storm lit up the sky on the night of Friday, May 10th and continued to dazzle us throughout the weekend with colorful displays. Night owls and astronomy fans were treated to a stunning show in the night sky.
And guess what? There's a chance we might get to see more of this enchanting spectacle in the coming nights, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled and not miss out on this extraordinary show! ๐๐
Initially, the auroras were expected to be visible mainly in the North of France and around the world, but the intense solar activity surprised everyone. People all over shared pictures of the awe-inspiring light displays. So, let's stay tuned and hope for more magical nights filled with lights in the sky!
all over France, even in the Cevennes and in the heart of Paris (of course, less intense due to pollution)!
Spectacular Images
According to scientists, it is easier to observe an aurora borealis through a camera than with the naked eye. This is what storm chaser and forecaster Kevin Fillin explains on X (formerly Twitter). Our eyes perceive a kind of white haze with a gentle green glow, which can sometimes move. But to see more colorful glows, ranging from pink to yellow to blue, you need to bring out your camera. And that's exactly what Internet users did! So if, like us, you didn't have the chance to witness this marvelous sight, don't worry, there were plenty of photos shared!spectacle, here are some images that should blow your mind, even through your phone.
