Bastille, City Hall, Nation, République, Catalonia: throughout her two terms, Anne Hidalgo, the soon-to-be former mayor of Paris, has embarked on a tireless quest to transform the squares of Paris. The goal? To make them greener, more accessible for soft mobility, and more pleasant for everyone. And, just a few months before the end of her reign, 3 of them are still in the process of transformation: Denfert-Rochereau, Colonel-Fabien, and Daumesnil.

Common Measures

We know that Parisians love to complain. So, as soon as there are major works happening in the capital, it’s like heaven for all the grumblers. However, when the results are revealed, many end up regretting their complaints and wishing they hadn’t cursed Anne Hidalgo. So yes, if the works at Daumesnil, Denfert, or Colonel-Fabien just seem to go on forever, but it’s for a great cause!

On each of these three places, just like all the others that have been transformed under the Hidalgo bulldozer so far, the goal is simple: reduce the space for cars and green up as much as possible, to do good for the planet and turn Paris into a pleasant, and above all, livable city, no matter the season. A vision not widely shared by the right, who point out the traffic jams caused by these projects. To each their own priorities.

A beautiful start.

Although the current mayor will unfortunately not see the completion of the Denfert-Rochereau project before the end of her term, which is scheduled for 2027, she should still be able to...

for the red ribbon at the end of the 10th and 12th district projects. The Félix-Eboué square (known as “Daumesnil” to most people) should be unveiled mid-January, and the completion of the work is expected one month later on the side of Colonel-Fabien. In any case, we can’t wait to be able to stroll around on foot or by bike all over Paris !
