Dry January: Paris is hosting the first contest for the best mocktail!

We don't know about you, but this year, it feels like everyone around us has decided to give the famous Dry January a try. There’s a desire to try out the experience, to take a real break after the holiday excesses, and to see if cutting back on alcohol might have positive effects on the body and mind… The reasons are various and all equally commendable. This year, the City of Paris is getting involved in the alcohol-free month and is organizing the very first edition of the best mocktail competition (non-alcoholic cocktail). Mark your calendars for Monday, January 27, 2025, starting at 3:30 PM, on Rue de Rivoli.

So, at the end of this new edition of Dry January — an initiative created in 2013 in the UK — the « Bet(s) on Alcohol-Free » will take place. Students or bartenders from various establishments in Paris are invited to create the best alcohol-free cocktail in the capital. The drinks crafted will be judged by personalities such as content creators Camille & Justice, and Bernard Basset, president of Addiction France.

Year after year, Dry January stands out as an initiative that attracts an ever-growing audience.

Currently, alcohol is responsible for about 41,000 deaths per year in France and is one of the leading risk factors for premature death among 15-49 year olds worldwide.
