The rain keeps falling and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Météo-France confirmed that France has experienced 35 consecutive days of rain since January 14, a record since 1959. As a result, many regions are facing significant flooding, and in Paris, the Seine has been overflowing for several days. On Tuesday, February 17, the water level reached up to 3.70 meters, before starting to recede the next day. However, the level remains high, leading to the closure of several Parisian roads

Closed roads throughout the capital

Don’t even think about going there, you’ll be stuck! The quai du marché-Neuf (4th), the quai des Orfèvres (Centre), the quai d’Orléans and the port de la tournelle (5th), the port du Louvre (Centre), the port des Saints-Pères (6th), the ports of Solférino, Invalides, and Gros-Caillou (7th), as well as the ports of Champs-Élysées and Concorde (8th) are among the main roads closed to traffic. This also applies to the Tuileries tunnel, Henri IV tunnel, the road under the Tolbiac bridge, and the port de Bercy (12th).

A high water level but nothing to worry about

Despite a significant rise in water levels, Pierre Rabadan, deputy to Mayor Anne Hidalgo, assures Parisien that « we are in a controlled situation that corresponds to a typical winter scenario ».

And indeed, compared to record flooding events, there is little cause for concern. In 2016, levels reached as high as 6.10 meters, and in 1910, the water level rose even more.

te; up to 8.62 meters

While Paris is under a yellow alert, other French departments, especially in the West, are on red alert due to Storm Pedro and are facing significant flooding. In Gironde, more than 5,400 households have been without power.electricity. In Bordeaux, the Garonne has reached almost 6.80 meters.
