A wave of excitement is sweeping through Disneyland Paris! Just after announcing the amazing Frozen zone, the park is now revealing another new project: an attraction inspired by The Lion King. This beloved animated film, released in 1994, holds a special place in the hearts of Disney fans, and the recent 3D version from 2019 was a huge success. And now, for the first time ever, Simba will make his debut in one of the Disney parks. Here's what we know so far about this fantastic new ride, set to take place in the second Disney Adventure World park, formerly known as Walt Disney Studios.

A kayak, some rapids, and loads of thrills

Unlike its Gallic competitor, Disney doesn't innovate so frequently, so naturally, everyone is questioning the shape of the ride, especially since the group's announcement teases a " spectacular water attraction ". During the D23 convention, held from August 9-11, fans got a sneak peek at some images in advance: to immerse themselves in the world of the Lion King, visitors will hop into a kind of kayak to then speed down rapids at lightning speed. The attraction, whose name is still unknown, will mix new water sensations with the latest audio-animatronics technologies that bring to life robots embodying Disney characters.

The second park will double in size

In an interview with our colleagues at.Le Parisien, Natacha Rafalski, director of Disneyland Paris, was able to share more details about the identity of this brand-new area. "We will be able to rediscover this iconic story, taken from the 30-year-old animated film, its absolutely beautiful music that we all love, and all its elements within this immersive thematic area," she described. The journey will begin "under the famous lion's rock," and will focus on "the story that made him (Simba) a king." The construction work is expected to start in 2025. "This entire transformation will almost double the size of this park," explains the Disneyland boss. Added to the dedicated space for Frozen, it's the entire creative vision of the second park that is transforming. "In the beginning it was a park based on the backstage of movie studios and filming. Today, our strength is the many franchises like Disney, Marvel, and Pixar." Investing in themed areas is therefore the group's priority. The Lion King attraction will only open after the one dedicated to the frozen world of Anna and Elsa, scheduled for .".2026.
