Another wonderful year for UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles! After celebrating its 30 years of screenings in 2025, this Parisian institution once again confirms its worldwide number one spot in terms of attendance. In total, 2,599,667 moviegoers flocked to the dark rooms of the venue last year, whether to catch the latest blockbusters or to (re)watch their favorite auteur films!

The Most Visited Cinema in the World

In France, in 2025, cinema attendance dropped by 14% compared to 2024. This decline can be explained by the rise in cinema ticket prices and the decrease in the purchasing power of the French. But in this climate, the UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles remains strong, recording a decrease of only -2.9%. And it’s no surprise, as this multiplex now boasts 27 screens and over 3,800 seats, continuing to attract film lovers and professionals alike!

morning sessions are particularly appreciated on Wednesdays (national release day), featuring a multitude of exceptional previews and an eclectic lineup.

The recipe for success?

While the cinema is part of a large group – and therefore not classified as art and essay – the general director of UGC Cinemas operations, Samuel Loiseau, praises the programming of the venue which not only highlights films known as “locomotives”. In fact, “ Out of the 714 films screened at Les Halles last year, 370 were art-house films [...] making for over 1.2 million admissions, which accounts for 48% of the site's attendance », he explains to the magazine Boxoffice Pro. These figures make UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles, against all odds, « the top art-house cinema in France ».
