The Le Miramar cinema is getting ready to close its doors in Montparnasse

It’s a big blow for Parisian cinema. On Monday, June 9th, the cinema Le Miramar will close its doors for good. This decision, made by the Pathé group, comes less than two years after the closure of the Bretagne cinema in the same neighborhood, Montparnasse. Le Miramar had been around for 87 years and showcased the greatest works of the seventh art.

If Le Miramar has been one of your must-visit spots or if you just want to pay a final tribute to a true pillar of culture in Paris, there’s only one date to remember: Monday, June 9th, at 8:15 PM. For its grand finale, the cinema in the 15th district will be screening My Mother, God and Sylvie Vartan, a film by Ken Scott that was released last March, starring Léïla Bekhti and Jonathan Cohen. On the same day, you can catch the films Young Mothers and Bad Faith at low prices. With its three auditoriums seating between 100 and 550 people, it showcased French and American productions, sometime after their initial release in the largest theaters.ndes salles sombres. 


A must-visit cinema since 1938

It was in 1938 that Le Miramar opened its doors, driven by the enthusiasm of Joseph Rytmann, who also managed the Bretagne. It joined the Pathé-Gaumont group in 2010. Some disagreements between Le Miramar and the Pathé Parnasse are believed to be behind its closure, as noted by Salle-Cinéma
