It’s the artwork that has generated the most buzz in recent days. Three weeks ago, artist JR and his team transformed the Pont Neuf into a unique cave that stretches 120 meters long and stands 18 meters high. This masterpiece was originally meant to be open to the public from June 6 to June 28, 2026. However, due to severe weather conditions at the beginning of June, the canvas that forms the cave tore, delaying the opening by several days.

A cave rebuilt to honor its tear

« It's amazing, the Cave is back », said JR in a video posted on his Instagram account on Sunday, June 14. Without hiding the scars of this accident, the artist and his team have instead built a new version of the work. « We spent days and nights rebuilding it with all the teams [...] We even kept the marks of the tears and created lines; you can also see the ropes like Christo and Jeanne-Claude », the artist specifies.

Imminent reopening!

And this time, it's official: after several days of work, La Caverne du Pont Neuf has reopened to the public this Monday, June 15th at 6 PM. Staying true to its commitment not to erase the traces of this climatic episode, JR has chosen to keep some visible tears and ropes, in a proud nod to Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Visitors can now explore this immersive installation that engages the senses of sound and smell before its scheduled closure on June 28th, with no extensions announced for now.
