It was the opening we were eagerly waiting for, but we’ll have to be patient. Artist JR set up his Caverne du Pont Neuf, which was supposed to be open to the public starting Saturday, June 6. However, due to the severe weather that hit the capital on Tuesday, June 2, the installation was significantly damaged.

A postponed opening to an unknown date
An enormous hole in the cave is the result of a day filled with rain and wind. Part of the structure is inflatable, and it has been torn apart. A statement from the Atelier JR mentions that "the technical and engineering experts of the project are actively working to determine the precise causes. As soon as the assessment of the situation is established, we will inform you. For now, the decision has been made to postpone the opening of the work to a date later than June 6, which will be defined in light of the conclusions of the site assessment."

An optical illusion in homage to a historic work
You’ll have to be patient to visit this rocky optical illusion. 120 meters long, 20 meters wide, and reaching heights between 12 and 18 meters, this impressive installation pays tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who wrapped the Pont Neuf in 1985.
JR’s artwork aims to offer an immersive experience, available 24/7 and accompanied by a soundscape created by Thomas Bangalter (former Daft Punk member). It is expected to be up until June 28, but with the opening date pushed back, we can certainly anticipate that its closing will be adjusted too. We’ll keep you posted!
