As we know, the capital is slightly asphyxiated. Whether it's due to transportation, industrial fumes, or human factors, there are plenty of sources of pollution, and that’s not the best news for our little lungs. However, over the past few years, it seems that, while not optimal, the quality of the air is improving more and more, particularly thanks to lower emissions. This is at least the conclusion drawn by Airparif over the last decade—or even a little more—and this news brings us joy.
A pretty positive assessment
What if, in a few years, we wouldn't need to go to the mountains to enjoy a breath of fresh air? This image, a bit optimistic, we’ll give you that, is not without meaning in light of the latest report published by Airparif.
. A few months ago, the organization informed us that the air quality in the capital is getting better, and it seems that its emissions are also becoming purer and purer.35% d'émissions de gaz à effet de serre en moins en 12 ans en Ile-de-France https://t.co/2cRGSuOAp2 pic.twitter.com/mHAD5FmHuK

Indeed, according to studies conducted between 2010 and 2022, over 12 years, greenhouse gas emissions and PM2.5 fine particulate emissions (which are harmful to inhale) have decreased by 35% and 43% respectively. This is fantastic news, although Airparif points out that efforts need to continue to have real impacts on climate change and the future of our planet.
Several transforming sectors
In detail, this notable improvement is due to energy transformations in several sectors. At the top of the list are transport and the residential sector. Indeed, in Île-de-France, the use of cars has decreased significantly in recent years.
Years (thank you Hidalgo), and many individuals have carried out energy renovation work for better consumption, and therefore less emissions. The organization does clarify that while these two sectors have made the most significant progress, they still remain the two most polluting at the moment. So let's make sure to keep up our efforts and continue on this path!Les émissions de gaz à effet de serre ont diminué de 35% en 12 ans en @iledefrance. L’action de la région, notamment en matière de transports, @vpecresse et @gdelasteyrie y a fortement contribué.@IDF_Rassemblee
