If some of you had hoped that the end of vacation would mark the end of public transport work, think again. Indeed, if back-to-school proved one thing to us, it's that closures are still very much happening, and you need to be ready for anything. Case in point, line 4, aka one of the busiest and one of the only automated lines in the capital, is about to close one of its flagship stations: Saint-Michel.
Three months without
To be specific, the Saint-Michel station will be closed starting this Monday, September 14th, until December 19th for a total of just over 3 months of downtime. A closure that's bound to cause quite a few headaches for tourists, since this stop notably serves
and the Notre-Dame Cathedral, which has become a true must-see since its reopening in December 2024. Throughout the entire closure, no connections will be available with RER lines B and C also present at the station. Preserving Parisian History
Behind this significant closure lie historic heritage renovation works. These construction projects generally aim to restore the facades, tiles, mosaics and historic decorations, original architectural elements and even Guimard entrances and surrounds. A major undertaking, especially for a station that welcomes so many visitors from around the world every day. And when you think about it, knowing that République station closed its doors for 8 years, three months seems totally manageable!
