It took the Paris firefighters 8 hours to put out the ongoing fire in this building under construction near the Gare de Lyon. This is an 8-story building, managed by the real estate developer of the SNCF. 180 firefighters showed up on site to establish a safety perimeter and fight the flames. And while those flames are now just a bad memory, the construction structure took a hit.

A controlled fire

The incident occurred in the late afternoon on Tuesday. While some bystanders in the area, seeing the smoke and hearing the noises, initially thought it was a continuation of the July 14 festivities, nearly 200 firefighters were quickly dispatched to the scene.

For now, the damages haven’t been assessed yet, but what’s certain is that this incident might slow down a bit the construction of the 10,000 m² building planned for the end of 2025.
