Donating blood is important, but it's not always easy. First, there are certain requirements to meet, then because it's never a very pleasant moment, and lastly, because work hours and weekend commitments don’t always allow for it. Fortunately, this new law could greatly simplify the process, much to the delight of the French blood establishment.

An Easier Visit

The idea behind this new law is simple: to allow all employees who wish to donate their blood during office hours, without having to take time off or lose part of their salary. If the law is passed by the Senate, employees will be able to head to the nearest center to their home or their…

workspace to go get your blood, platelets, and plasma donated.

So, how does it work? Anyone wishing to do a good deed should notify their employer at least 3 days in advance. The employer can then refuse the request only if it interferes with the smooth operation of the company: such as a heavy workload at that time, a teacher needing to lead a class, or baking staff from a bakery during the holiday season, are some examples mentioned. Any opposition must be justified in writing.

Every worker will be able to enjoy a specific number of absences each year, with the donation being limited to 6 times a year for men and 4 for women.

An extremely important request

This prop...The new law makes Frédéric Pacoud, president of the French Blood Establishment, very happy, as he laments every day the high number of unused slots. Just to remind you, every day, an average of 10,000 blood donations and 500 platelet donations are needed to meet the medical needs of the country. This new law would allow anyone aged 18 to 70 and weighing more than 50 kilos to show solidarity much more easily! So, ready to roll up your sleeves for a good cause?
