On the evening of Saturday, December 14, the annual election for the new Miss France took place. The happy winner is Miss Martinique, Angélique Angarni-Filopon, the eldest in the competition at 34 years old, as since 2022, the age limit of 24 has been abolished. While the life of this Miss France 2025 is about to take a wonderful turn, she is currently a victim of a wave of cyberbullying.

Hateful Comments About the Martinican
« Soon, the winner will have 110 !!! », « Miss France should be a young girl, not a mature woman », « Miss France 2025 isn't beautiful. She was chosen because she's black. That's a very racist choice from the jury », « For me, Miss France represents a cliché of beauty: a slender woman, with clear skin, no imperfections, and long, silky hair. The winner doesn't fit this image »… On social media, criticisms about the age, appearance, origins, or skin color of the new Miss France have been pouring in since her victory.

In response to the violence, Eve Gilles, Miss France 2024, spoke out on her Instagram story: “How many more years will it take for these people to understand what harassment is? Angélique is and will remain Miss France 2025. And to anyone who disagrees, I invite you to leave her alone!”
» she wrote. Despite what she's going through, the Martiniquan woman stands strong and brings messages of hope and confidence for all women. On Monday, December 16, on the mic of Fun Radio, Angélique Angarni-Filopon reminded: « I am someone who speaks for all the women who were told it was too late. »
Violence against numerous Misses every year
Unfortunately, these waves of harassment are not new, and many regional Misses are victims of it. Last year during her election, Eve Gilles faced a storm of criticism on social media due to her short hair and slender figure. « At first, it made me laugh. But when I saw that &It touched my loved ones, and it started to hurt me because it was hurting them. Anyway, as soon as someone becomes a public figure, they have to be criticized, looking for ways to hit them where it hurts », says Miss France 2024 to 20 minutes.

Once again this year, waves of hate haven’t held back. Sabah Aib, elected Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, was the target of racist remarks linked to her Algerian and Moroccan origins. “I was born in France, just like my parents, we consider ourselves first and foremost as French,” she reminded everyone in a social media post. The 18-year-old young woman has even filed a complaint. Miss Languedoc, Jade Benazech, faced harassment regarding her height and lips. Just a reminder, cyberbullying is a crime punishable by law.
