The bakery is undoubtedly one of those crafts that France masters with absolute perfection. And there is no city more representative of this excellence than Paris. In 2023, the Parisian Urban Planning Workshop (Apur) took on the task of creating a map listing all the bakeries in the capital. A notable fact emerged: no matter which arrondissement you live in, there's bound to be a bakery just a 5-minute walk away!

A bakery close to every Parisian
If we asked you right now, how many bakeries there are in the capital, what would you say? In Paris, there are bakeries everywhere. L’Apur has counted 1203, which means that 93% of Parisians live less than 5 minutes away from one of them. Traditional, specializing in organic bread or unique loaves... there’s something for everyone's taste!

Paris, the city of small businesses
Bakeries, along with restaurants, bars, and cafés, make Paris the French city with the highest density of businesses, according to Apur. L’Atelier counts 60,846 businesses across the capital, adapting to the new habits of Parisians. The City of Paris highlights that car garages have decreased by 16% between 2020 and 2023 in the capital, while bike sales and repair shops have seen an unprecedented growth of 39%. This is a perfect reflection of the growing attraction to more eco-friendly and economical modes of transport. The same observation stands for thrift stores.
