For some, the holiday fun isn't over just yet, and for others, a charming weekend trip to the most beautiful places in France might still be on the horizon... No matter where you stand, the back-to-school season offers you another opportunity to unwind with delightful cultural outings to discover all around the country.


We admire the works of Vermeer, Van Gogh, and Mondrian at the Bassin des Lumières in Bordeaux

After enchanting visitors at the Carrières des Lumières, the masters of Dutch painting have joined the Bassin des Lumières until January 2025, delighting guests with their captivating works. We start with Vermeer's portraits, Rembrandt's chiaroscuro, Jan Steen's festive tavern, the marine touches of Hendrick Cornelisz Vroom, the realm of gods by Abraham Bloemaert… And the grand finale: Van Gogh's vibrant and emotional brushstrokes that accompany us to the exit, with his colorful, dreamlike night paintings. 

Next, we dive into the world of the architect of colors, Mondrian. From his Dutch landscapes to his grids of primary colors, the exhibition invites us to follow the artistic evolution of the painter, who breaks free from traditional painting to immerse himself in a vivid art style.

If you're passing through Provence, you simply must check out Les Baux-de-Provence! A true natural treasure, the rock of Les Baux-de-Provence is one of the most remarkable heritage sites in France, and it also hosts stunning immersive exhibitions in the heart of an ancient white limestone quarry.

On a projection surface of 7000 m2 from floor to ceiling, the Carrières des Lumières invites us to explore the photographs of Jimmy Nelson, a contemporary English artist celebrated for his breathtaking images of tribal and indigenous peoples. Through a series of stunning portraits and landscapes, we get to witness a vibrant array of rites and traditions from Africa, Siberia, India, and beyond.

South America, and even Aboriginal Australia. A timeless journey that is aesthetic, emotional, and profoundly human.

Let’s be dazzled by the paintings of Pierre Bonnard at the Caumont Art Center

In one of the most beautiful private mansions in Aix-Caumont - Art Center, located in Provence and dating back to the late 18th century, has been captivating visitors for over 10 years. From its beautiful French gardens to its grand entrance hall and majestic staircases, the Caumont hotel never ceases to fascinate us.

Until October 6, the art center invites you to discover the work of French painter Pierre Bonnard like you’ve never seen it before. Through a selection of exceptional canvases, the exhibition explores the artist's fascination with Japanese prints, whose discovery changed his view of art.

You'll find fascinating works here, including some that have rarely or never been shown to the French public, like Women in the Garden, a screen depicting the 4 seasons through the profiles of 4 mystical women with Japanese features. An unprecedented exhibition, highlighting the artist's unique passion for the land of the rising sun.
