We know that for some time now, providing greener and better energy for the environment has become a top priority, especially in large cities. And the French capital is determined to stay up to date by maximizing its energy sources and offering more eco-friendly alternatives. In this direction, the city has just officially announced the introduction of a new development that has been in the works for over 10 years now.

Kilometers of Solar Panels

In 2016, after 5 years of construction, the Canopée des Halles was unveiled right in the heart of the 1st arrondissement. A place that has gradually secured a special spot in the hearts of Parisians, until it became quite an essential place for both locals and tourists.the tourists. However, all these years, there was still one element missing for this building to finally be completed according to the original plans.

Indeed, when designing the building, the installation of solar panels was planned, and the roof of the Canopy was imagined accordingly. As a result, by the end of the study phase, more than 1200 small black panels are set to emerge under the Paris sky. It's an amazing project that is expected to take place between September and December 2025, at a total cost of 715,000€, spread over ten years according to estimates.

A greener consumption without altering the neighborhood

The goal of this new installation is simple: to cover 20% of the energy needs of the 4 public buildings located under the Canopy, including the media library, the Conservatory, the La Place cultural center, and the House of amateur artistic practices.

rs. A project that fits into the urban policy, which aims for 20% of its consumption to come from locally produced renewable energies by 2050.

This is a project that we can definitely support, and rest assured, it shouldn't change the look of the neighborhood, since the panels will be located on the sides of the Canopée, invisible from the ground, and they should also be anti-reflective, so they won't disturb the residents living above the roof of the Forum des Halles. And anyway, we’re not talking about Notre-Dame either, and we think solar panels fit nicely into the vibe of this place.
