Get ready for the excitement to build up as the opening ceremony draws nearer! Metro stations are beginning to close one by one, and major roads in the capital are being shut down in stages. But don't worry, the challenges are only just beginning. It's now time for the bridges to follow suit and start closing down, all in preparation for the upcoming event which is set to be quite a complex affair. Here's a little preview of what you can look forward to once June arrives. A gradual shutdown You may have heard that the Pont Alexandre III was completely shut off to both pedestrians and cars at the end of May. However, this is just the start of a long list of closures to come. Some will be closed in advance of the safety perimeter being implemented on July 18th, while others will slowly make their way through it. Rest assured, navigating through this period will be no easy feat - but we're here to guide you every step of the way. Let the countdown to June begin! We wanted to give you a heads up on the upcoming bridge closures happening in our lovely city. Here's a handy list of closures to keep in mind up until July 26. Please note that during this time, the bridges will only be partially open, so plan accordingly for your travels. And to kick off this exciting grand opening, all bridges in the capital will be closed starting at 7pm on that special day. Here are the closures before July 18: - Pont Alexandre III: May 17 to July 26 - Passerelle Debilly: July 8 to July 26 - Pont-au-Change: July 8 to July 11 - Pont du Carrousel: July 8 to July 12 - Pont d'Iéna: July 12 to July 16 - Pont de la Tournelle: July 16 to July 26 - Pont Royal: July 16 to July 18 Now, looking ahead to the closures between July 18 and 26: Starting from July 18, a security perimeter will be in place, essentially closing off most bridges to motorized vehicles between Bir-Hakeim and Austerlitz. Some bridges will be very difficult, if not impossible, to access during this time. Additional closures to note: - Pont Saint-Louis: July 21, 22, and 26 - Pont-Neuf: July 22 Stay informed and plan your routes accordingly to avoid any traffic jams or detours! Happy travels in the City of Light!🌉✨Don't forget, the Pont des Arts will be closed on July 22, then again from July 24 to 26. The Pont d’Iéna et place de Varsovie will be closed from July 23 to 26. As for the Pont d’Austerlitz, it will be closed from July 24 to 26. Make a note that the Pont-au-Change will be closed from July 25 to 26, and the Pont de la Tournelle from July 25 to 26 as well. Take a break with the Pont du Carrousel, it will be closed from July 25 to 26. The Concorde Bridge and the Alma Bridge will both be closed from July 24 to 26.

After July 26:

Between July 18 and July 26, at 7 pm, only 4 bridges and footbridges remain 100% accessible to traffic : the Invalides bridge, the Notre-Dame bridge (the small bridge of Cardinal Lustiger), the Sully bridge and the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge, reserved only for pedestrians. Unfortunately, starting from 30 minutes before the opening ceremony, they will suffer the same fate as the others. But, phew, they will all reopen as soon as the ceremony ends. As for the others, it may take a few hours, or even a few days, before the stands are dismantled.

For now, specific dates have not been announced. Keep in mind though that the Concorde bridge, the Alexander III bridge and the Invalides bridge are all located in the test zone. They will therefore be prohibited during the entire duration of the Olympics and Paralympics, and closed to pedestrians during competition hours. So, to make things easier, we recommend that you refer to this interactive map, which details all of this day by day.
