Getting through the legislative elections. Anne Hidalgo's project of swimming in the Seine keeps getting postponed. This Wednesday, after a visit, the (PS) mayor of Paris confirmed the rumor that her long-planned plunge would not take place on June 23. She is giving herself some extra time due to the unprecedented political situation in the country, however, one question remains: Will Anne Hidalgo actually end up dipping her toe?

Several postponements considered

For the past few days, the rumor of a postponement has been circulating in the air. This time, it's not about the questionable quality of the water, but rather the flow rate, which is too high, forcing the Olympic committee and the City of Paris to rethink their plans. Their first measure: cancel the test for the French team swimming events on Monday, June 10, before considering the postponement of Anne Hidalgo's swim. Now, it's the legislative elections that are disrupting the schedule. June 30 not only poses a barrier to the National Rally, but also to the mayor of Paris taking the plunge. At least, that's the explanation she gave on Wednesday, June 12, during the inauguration of the urban forest in Place de Catalogne (14th arrondissement).

A Fun Meeting  Before the Games

There might be a delay, but there are no plans to cancel the event at the moment. Anne Hidalgo's swim is scheduled after the legislative elections, so after July 7th, and  before the Games, which begin on July 26th. The Mayor of Paris will have three short weeks to prepare to swim alongside, possibly, Marc Guillaume, the prefect of the Île-de-France region, and Laurent Nuñez, the police prefect, as originally planned; as for whether Emmanuel Macron will join them, that remains to be seen. Will they go, will they not go, nothing is certain at this point: for now, none of the brave swimmers have announced a new date.
