It is rare to enjoy spending time in an eyewear store. But then, one day, you step into Atelier des Lunettes and all your prejudices disappear: it feels so good to be there! There are four addresses in the eastern part of Paris, but it's the latest one, opened last November in Menilmontant, that catches our eye. With its Berlin-inspired decor, marble tables, raw walls, and checkered counter, you would think you've entered the latest concept store in Le Marais, but no, it's all about finding glasses, right here in the 20th arrondissement! Driss, the owner, wants to maintain his own identity in a neighborhood he loves. "All the shops are located between Oberkampf, Belleville, and Menilmontant. We can't imagine being anywhere else. It's a cosmopolitan area where all populations mix and where you can find everything without having to move. We wanted to offer something unique and beautiful... and even the neighbors are happy, now weWe all know each other.🤗✨ From the trendy, there's only that: only 12 brands are referenced in the store. Carefully selected for their quality, handmade craftsmanship, and unique aesthetics, the team knows them like the back of their hands. No big industrial brands or made in China here! These glasses are handmade in Berlin by Mykita, colorful creations from Anne et Valentin from Toulouse, and the sublime pairs from the retro-chic Romarin brand, which are handcrafted in Jura - and of which Atelier des Lunettes is the exclusive distributor. It's simple, there's no better reference in the neighborhood, with a fair price that adequately remunerates the artisans: between €189 and €266, depending on the frame. And while some pairs are European, Driss tries to lean towards French manufacturing as much as possible, for the ecological aspect first and foremost, but also to support the country's economy. "Today, 80% of our glasses are French-made," he says. They are made in France and the lenses are also made here. It's authentic and you can really see the difference in quality in the product. Another strong point of the place: the customer experience. You understood it, we're not received here like anywhere else and, after having a tea or a coffee, we work to find the emotional connection between you and your future glasses and reveal your personality. It's simple: it's love at first sight or nothing at all and, considering the absolutely stunning frames, there's no chance you won't find what makes you happy. As for us, we found ours. - S.S.
