Imagine a world where sex does not presume our tastes, skills, and intelligence, where gender does not assign us to suffer from violence and inequality? This world, we are already building it, and to discover it, all you have to do is push the doors of the Bold City, a former elementary school converted into a café. Taken over by the Fondation des Femmes in 2014, it is the first place in France dedicated to the promotion of women's rights, allowing those who wish to advocate for gender equality.
"Liberty, Equality, Sorority"
These words resonate like a refrain, a motto, a precept among the fifteen feminist associations that reside in this place. From dance workshops to meetings, debates, conferences, and exhibitions, each of these associations offers a wide range of activities.ns acts with one and only one goal: to accompany, support and listen to women. Thanks to the podcast studio made available to different associations by the production company Nouvelles Écoutes, the actions carried out at the heart of the Citée Audacieuse enjoy recognition that extends beyond the walls of this former school.
A feminist living place
More than just a feminist association, this co-working space opens its doors from Thursday to Sunday to curious and/or eager people who want to get involved in advancing women's rights. Moreover, arrangements for children have been made so that you can enjoy your time without any hassle.
On the upper floor of the building, we also discover an engaged and feminist café where it feels good to sit and participate in events, conferences, debates, or exhibitions on gender equality-related topics. For 3 years, Café Chez Mona occupied the premises. In December 2023, a new feminist café will take its place... Stay tuned.
