It is rare to enjoy spending time in a glasses shop. But one day, you step into the Atelier des lunettes and all your preconceived notions disappear: it's amazing in there! There are four locations in the east of Paris, but it's the newest one, opened last November in Ménilmontant, that catches our eye. With its Berlin-inspired decor, marble tables, raw walls, and checkered counter, you would think you had entered the latest concept store in Le Marais, but no, it's glasses that we've come to find, and in the 20th arrondissement, no less.
Driss, the owner, is proud of the unique identity he has created in a neighborhood he adores. "All of the shops are located between Oberkampf, Belleville, and Ménilmontant. We couldn't imagine being anywhere else. It's a cosmopolitan area where all populations mix, and where you can find everything without needing to go anywhere else. We wanted to offer something refined and beautiful, and even the neighbors are happy. Now, we all know each other."Toepick, there's nothing but that: only 12 brands are referenced in the shop. Carefully selected for their quality, handmade craftsmanship, and unique aesthetics, the team knows each brand inside out. No big industrial brands or made in China! From handmade glasses from Berlin by Mykita to the colorful creations of Anne and Valentin from Toulouse, and the sublime pairs from the retro-chic brand Romarin, handcrafted in Jura and exclusively distributed by Atelier des Lunettes. It's simple, there's no better reference in the neighborhood, with a fair price that properly rewards the artisan: between €189 and €266 depending on the frame. And while some pairs are European, Driss tries to lean towards French manufacturing as much as possible, for ecological reasons first, but also to support the country's economy. "Today, 80% of our luneThese glasses are made in France, and the lenses are also made here. It's authentic and you can really see the difference in quality in the product."
Another highlight of the place: the customer experience. You've understood, we're not received here like anywhere else, and after having a tea or coffee, we make sure to find the emotional connection between you and your future glasses and reveal your personality. It's simple, it's love at first sight or nothing at all, and with the absolutely stunning frames, there's no chance you won't find what you're looking for. As for us, we've found ours.
