We've known for a few weeks now, but the world's largest underground ossuary is getting ready to close its doors soon for a wave of renovations that will last until spring 2026. But before saying goodbye to this mysterious place, the institution invites you to a special final night event!

Spending the evening at the museum in the capital has become common practice in recent years. Spending the night in a cemetery, on the other hand, is a somewhat niche activity, reserved for horror movie fans. However, on November 2nd, the Catacombs of Paris invite you to a unique night event that combines these two unusual pastimes.


A Historic Landmark of Paris

Since 1809, the Catacombs of Paris have welcomed dozens and dozens of visitors seeking a little dose of history and thrills as they navigate the twists and turns of this extraordinary underground. Yet, after almost 220 years of faithful service, this unique place in the world is preparing to close its doors for a few months forsome renovations.welcome to the well-deserved renovation wave!

The goal is simple: to modernize the location to provide a better visitor experience using new technologies. A new scenography will be established to highlight details that have been previously unseen, satisfying the over 2000 people who come each day.what a day to discover this labyrinth that is over 1,500 meters long. A new sound mediation will also be set up for an immersive adventure.


A proper farewell

But before we can test all these new features, we'll have to wait a bit, as several months of work are in the pipeline. So to help us patiently await, the Catacombs are offering us, on the eve of the closing of the doors, the chance to enjoy unique nighttime tours. It's a great opportunity to experience the location in a very different atmosphere, just a few days after Halloween, and to stretch out the fun a little before we have to say goodbye to this impressive ossuary.
