In September, the Place Saint-Sulpice will take on a historical vibe with the festival Paris is worth a party. Organized by the Paris Geneviève association in the 6th arrondissement, this event brings together all history enthusiasts for an unusual journey into the past. What's on the agenda? Lots of period costumes, a medieval banquet, a ball reminiscent of the Belle Époque, and a grand parade.

An immersion in old-time Paris
On September 9th and 10th, we celebrate the history of the capital since its foundation to (re)discover our vast Parisian heritage through dance, music, gastronomy, literature, and craftsmanship. During these two days, we will find a small "multi-epoch" village that will take us on a journey through the Paris of the Middle Ages to the wild parties of the Belle Époque. Actors, craftsmen, stone sculptors, woodworkers, dancers, historical vehicles... They all invite us to this magical leap in time.

A Grand Banquet like in the Middle Ages
During the festival, several major events will retrace 1,500 years of Parisian history. First, all participants (by registration) will be invited to the grand costumed feast of Clovis and Clotilde. Abundant food and drink will immerse us in the real medieval banquets accompanied by troubadours and storytellers of all kinds. Other highlights include the Belle Époque dance ball and the historic parade that will traverse the Left Bank, from the Pantheon to the Place Saint-Sulpice.

Women in Power
If this festival is a real immersion into the Paris of yesteryear, it also decides to put women in the spotlight. On the program, we will therefore find a conference on the theme of "Women who have made the City of Light shine". But above all, women can apply to become the honorary citizen of the festival. The winner will therefore embody Geneviève, historically the first mayor of Paris. The conditions to participate? Being a Parisian, having a passion for the history of the city and being involved in a project or a cause that makes the capital shine. Attention, you only have until July 31st to register!
