It's springtime, and despite the March showers that may throw us a curveball, nothing will stop us from enjoying our beautiful spring strolls. One such place to visit is the Domaine de Dampierre-en-Yvelines, located less than an hour from Paris, right in the heart of the Vallée de la Chevreuse, which transforms into a living painting for the season, adorned with thousands of colorful tulips until the end of May.

80,000 tulips planted in the autumn

During its annual "Les Printanières" event, the gardens of Dampierre Castle showcase their most stunning colors. Over 80,000 tulips planted in the autumn are about to bloom at the end of March, offering us an enchanting and magical stroll throughout the spring. Expansive beds of tulips in various shades line the grand pond of the estate and the recently restored Pavilion, blending into a picturesque setting reminiscent of impressionist paintings—all near a castle classified as a Monument.

History, with architecture designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart – who also created the Palace of Versailles. As for the gardens by André Le Nôtre, which span over 90 hectares, they are open for exploration: on foot, on a rosalie, or during a boat ride on the pond.

Springtime Events You Won't Want to Miss!

With tulips in bloom, the estate is planning a special day to celebrate them on April 18th. Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy classical concerts and live performances. There will also be workshops for both young and old, ranging from bouquet making to planting, alongside various botanical discoveries. Then in May, the first edition of the Dampierre Plant Festival will bring life to the estate over an entire weekend. On May 9th and 10th, about fifty exhibitors will gather for a grand market dedicated to gardens and flowers, featuring nurserymen, florists, landscapers, and artisans.
