About a 9-kilometer hike

Starting from the Bures-sur-Yvette train station, all you need to do is follow the marked path to embark on this delightfully scenic hike of just over 9 kilometers, which typically takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes to walk, with a positive elevation gain of 200 meters. The stroll allows you to pass through the Gif-sur-Yvette forest, a must-see in the Chevreuse valley. When you reach the Montjay tunnel, it signals that you're getting close to the Fauvettes viaduct, the cherry on top of this hiking adventure!

One Hundred Years of History for the Fauvettes Viaduct

The Fauvettes Viaduct is located between Gometz-le-Châtel and Bures-sur-Yvettes. It was built in 1913 with the goal of being part of the railway line connecting Paris to Chartres via Gallardon, even though it was only operational for nine years in the end.

Measuring 220 meters in length and 8.15 meters in width, its height is truly the most impressive feature at 34 meters. The viaduct offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire valley and forest. Today, it is a favored spot for hikers, cyclists, and climbing enthusiasts, thanks to over 100 routes. Will we see you there this weekend?
