What many Parisians still don’t know: the capital boasts no less than 531 parks, gardens, and squares, and 140 of them are accessible 24/7, all year round. Sure, in January, the idea of a nighttime picnic at the local square is a bit limited. But in July, it's a whole different story!

The big parks open until midnight

From July 4 to September 6, 2026, some gardens that usually close at 9 PM or 9:30 PM extend their hours until midnight, so you can truly enjoy the cool evening air. Among the featured spots, a few must-visit places include Buttes-Chaumont (19th), Montsouris Park (14th), Reuilly – Paul-Pernin Garden (12th), and Villemin Garden (10th). All in all,

13 green spaces benefit from this extended hours. The complete list is available on the City of Paris website.

In case of a heatwave, even more options

If a heatwave hits, 7 additional green spaces join the movement, including Parc Monceau (8th), Parc André-Citroën (15th), and Parc Clichy-Batignolles – Martin-Luther-King (17th). With this expanded list, you have plenty of options to find a patch of cool grass within easy reach of the metro.

The Practical Tip

To find the nearest open garden to you, head over to the Paris City Hall website where all the schedules are listed by district. Grab a blanket, a nice cold drink, and enjoy. Paris at night, in a nearly empty park, is truly priceless.
