The temperatures are already starting to drop in the capital, much to the delight of those who are longing for autumn and the end-of-year festivities. So if you’re part of this team, here’s some good news to help you patiently wait. After five years of absence, the ice rink at the Grand Palais is finally reopening its doors to the public. Mark your calendars for December 14th!
An Olympic Renaissance
Remember? The last time we got to glide under the beautiful glass ceilings of the Grand Palais was in the winter of 2019. Since then, COVID has wreaked havoc, and the cultural institution had to remain closed for three years for major renovation works, completed just in time to host the fencing and taekwondo events during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer. The venue also gifted us absolutely wonderful images during the descent of the athletes, captivating visitors from all over the world.
This winter, the Grand Palais will once again host large-scale events, such as the Chanel spring-summer 2025 fashion show presented on October 1st for Paris Fashion Week, and the Paris Photo photography festival taking place from November 7th to 10th. But the highlight of the show will be in December, with the reopening of the world's largest indoor ice rink.

The Grand Palais des Glaces
The highly anticipated ice rink is returning for its 7th edition under the magnificent dome of the Grand Palais starting December 14, 2024, and running until January 8, 2025. What’s on the agenda? 27,000 m2 of ice in a magical setting to fully enjoy the wonderful holiday season. And just like in previous editions, the rink will feature a monumental artwork, standing proudly at its center. But to keep the magic of December alive a little longer, it will only be revealed at the very last moment.
On the skating side, the Grand Palais has three time slots ready for three different atmospheres. We kick things off in the morning (from 10 AM to 1 PM) with beginners and champion skaters, featuring learning sessions for the little ones and training for all sorts of jumps. No worries for anxious parents, there’s a special area of 200 m2 reserved for the tiniest skaters.
TS. Then, in the afternoon (from 2 PM to 7 PM), everyone can come skate under the beautiful light of the grand glass ceiling, leading up to an evening filled with festive night events featuring DJ sets and exceptional light shows starting at 9 PM. The best part? A food service is available on-site from morning to night to satisfy all your cravings, from snacks to a comforting dinner. The Grand Palace of Ice
