Hear ye, hear ye! The famous Gouel Breizh (also known as the Breton Festival) is back on the streets of Paris. And it's in the 14th arrondissement, home to the largest Breton population outside the region, where the festivities take place. It's a chance to dive into the Breton culture for 9 days that is, despite what the naysayers say, as rich as a good dollop of butter (sea-salted, otherwise it's a sin). Here's a little briefing on the amazing program.
A Week in Breton Style
At the heart of this beautiful celebration is the collective Mission bretonne – Ti ar Vretoned, which tirelessly works to shine a light on made in Breizh culture all over the country, thanks to its many volunteers, whom we commend. And between crêpes, butter, dances, songs, butter, galettes, and the compulsive use of the flag...
au, and butter, God knows they have quite the job to share all the secrets and traditions. To do their job well, the association is offering us once again this year 9 days of joy in May, during which Parisians will have the chance, or should I say, the honor, to step into the shoes of real Bigoudens and Bigoudènes for a few hours. But then, fest-noz, dance, storytelling, tasting, or even cinema and music, what exactly will we be doing there?
Brittany 100%
Throughout the festivities...You can take part in various activities that are suitable for all ages and all types of people. Rest assured, though, cider and chouchen will only flow freely for those who are of age, of course. And we're starting off strong today with the traditional Crep'Noz. Throughout the day, Edgar Quinet Boulevard will transform into an open-air crêperie for a Fest-Deiz (a daytime festival, as opposed to a Fest-Noz, which happens at night). We really hope to see our favorite spots on Rue de Montparnasse.

And right from the next day, we jump into a beginners' session on traditional dances at the town hall of the 14th district, followed by a big fest-noz. In the days that follow, we’ll enjoy a lineup of storytelling walks through the capital, concerts, lectures about the Breton language, screenings of documentaries, performances, and of course, an incredible closing evening worthy of the most beautiful Breton festivals on Saturday, May 23rd. A huge festive celebration bursting with cultural and tasty stalls. Because Bretons know how to do things right. Yerc'h mad!
