The Editor

On June 15th, the Diderot swimming pool in Pantin kicked off its 2026 season. This reopening couldn’t come at a better time, as the mercury has started a breathtaking rise that shows no signs of stopping. On the agenda, a natural outdoor swimming area of 730 m² to help beat the sweltering heat and cool off. And the best part? It’s accessible without spending a single penny.

Swim for less

While the capital boasts quite an impressive number of municipal pools, sadly, these are not always accessible to everyone due to entry fees and limited hours, especially during school periods. Luckily, in these heatwave times, when water becomes truly lifesaving (and let’s not forget that in 20 or 30 years, there may be none left), some local governments...

They decided to take a step forward by offering us free swimming spots. This is the case for the city of Paris, which has, for example, chosen to open the Canal Saint-Martin pool earlier than expected, and also for Pantin, which welcomes everyone to the Diderot Park pool for free, with just one condition: wear a swimming cap.

The best remedy against the heatwave

Here, you can enjoy a quite reasonable-sized water area to splash around, dive in, and attempt your best routines in swimming synchronized swimming, basically, just have a great time. And, even better, to tackle the heatwave we’re experiencing, the city of Pantin has decided to extend the opening hours of the Diderot swimming area, now accessible until 10 PM in the evening, and this will continue until the end of the heatwave. However, please note, while access to the area is free (including the activities that will be offered in the morning starting from the beginning of the school holidays), due to the expected crowds, access times to the water may be limited to 45 minutes, in order to... give everyone the chance to enjoy it.
