Well, this weekend is going to be full of exciting happenings. It’s officially autumn, European Heritage Days, the return of the Café Race, and here’s the best part: an incredible soapbox race is happening in Île-de-France this Saturday, September 20th! To join in on this totally crazy (and slightly retro) event, head over to Seine-et-Marne, specifically to the town of Othis.
Where’s the downhill slide?
We’ve all sat in front of an American series or movie, admiring 9-year-old kids zooming down the hill in makeshift cars, trying to reach the bottom of the track the...as quickly as possible. Because while soapbox races are very popular across the Atlantic, they're a bit less common on this side of the ocean.

But, this weekend, an event might just let you indulge in that fantasy. So, head to the charming town of Othis, where the tennis club is waiting for you.local is organizing once again this year one of those competitions. But what could tennis and soapbox racing possibly have in common, you might ask? Absolutely nothing, as far as we know! That doesn’t stop us from being super excited about this get-together.
A day as festive as it is sporty
To have the chance to join in on this extremely quirky activity, all you need to do is register with the tennis club, and of course, build your own vehicle using your hands, cellar, and a spark of ingenuity. Once you’ve completed these steps, head over starting at 9 AM this Saturday to have your vehicle checked, and take your place at the starting line. And if you'd rather watch, fearing too much excitement, you can also attend this crazy race!at the edge of the track, enjoying a fantastic dining offer.
