We Parisians are really incredibly lucky. Not only do we live in the most beautiful city in the world, but our region is also one of the prettiest in France. With plenty of castles, super unique museums, and especially adorable walking trails to explore on foot or by bike, all of which are cuter than the last. After introducing you to the most flowery hike in the region, located in the Sausseron valley, we’re now inviting you to discover one of the most peaceful spots in Île-de-France.

Head to Gare du Nord for an express trip

The Chantilly forest probably rings a bell. But did you know there’s a simply magical place right in the heart of this huge green space? And the good news is that to enjoy it, you just need to go there.

At the Gare du Nord, for a silly little trip of just 20 short minutes on the RER D or TER that will take you straight to Orry-la-Ville. And it’s from this lovely little town that your adventure begins.

On the agenda, a nice little 30-minute walk to reach the Holy Grail: the Étangs de Commelles. From that moment on, it’s simple: just enjoy a small loop of just over 5 km that lets you circle around these breathtaking bodies of water. Because let me tell you, this trail offers exceptional viewpoint after exceptional viewpoint.

Must-See Spots

The first thing to note is that the Étangs de Commelles provide you with a rare haven of peace and tranquility, far away from the bustling chaos of the capital. Throughout the walk, accessible to all levels of walkers, you can enjoy the four successive ponds, where the magnificent Château de la Reine Blanche stands on the banks, or the ...

crêperie l’Étang d’Art, a must-visit for a lunch break.
